Applicants renewing a Visitor (B1/B2) visa may be eligible for special renewal processing. Please read below for details.

Renewing a Visitor (B1/B2) visa that was issued BEFORE May 11, 2007

Biometric Fingerprint Data Will Need to be Collected at the U.S. Embassy

Applicants who meet ALL of the following requirements may schedule an appointment at the Consular Section for the purposes of submitting their required visa documentation and having their fingerprints taken. Applicants qualifying under this special exemption are not required to attend an interview.

This special exemption applies to applicants meeting the following qualifications: 

  • You hold a Bahamian passport with at least six months validity.
  • The visa you are renewing is/was a full validity10 year B1/B2 visa.
  • Your current visa has not yet expired, or its expiration date is within the last 12 months.
  • You have never had a passport lost or stolen.
  • You have always been eligible for a visa under U.S. law.
  • You have never required administrative processing when applying for a visa.

Please note: A Consular Officer reserves the right to request that an applicant appear in person for an interview after reviewing his or her application.

Renewing a Visitor (B1/B2) visa that was issued AFTER May 11, 2007

Biometric Fingerprint Data Requirements Have Already been Met

Applicants who meet ALL of the requirements listed below should not have to appear at the Consular Section to provide biometric fingerprint data because that data should already be on file; if you fit this category, please see How to Apply and when scheduling the appointment select the special Visa Renewal (B1/B2) - Personal Appearance Waiver trip purpose to pay the fee and send in the application package via courier.

This special exemption applies to applicants meeting the following qualifications:

 The visa you are renewing must have been issued after May 11, 2007.

  • You hold a Bahamian passport with at least six months validity.
  • The visa you are renewing is/was a full validity10 year B1/B2 visa.
  • Your current visa has not yet expired, or, its expiration date is within the last 12 months.
  • You have never had a passport lost or stolen.
  • You have always been eligible for a visa under U.S. law.
  • You have never required administrative processing when applying for a visa.

Additional Documents Required:

In addition to the standard documents required for your visa type, all application packages must include: 

  • Valid passport or travel document of the applicant.
  • DS-160 confirmation sheet.
  • A recent passport-size photo of the applicant.
  • Printed confirmation page obtained from this website, which will be available after you pay the MRV fee and complete the website flow.
