Important Notice - Be cognizant of suspicious person/vehicle
September 2, 2009
The Bahamian police have notified the Regional Security Office of the U.S. Embassy of a suspicious vehicle and two male occupants who have, on three previous occasions, targeted women driving their cars in the Cable Beach / Sandy Port areas of Nassau.
The two men have been seen driving a black in color Honda Accord automobile and have followed single occupant women driving to their residence. One occupant was described to have dreadlocks in his hair. When the victim arrives at the residence the men attempt to steal the victim’s purse.
The police do not have the identifying license plate at this time, but are watchful for persons and vehicles matching this description.
Personal Safety Reminder: All persons are reminded to be cognizant of their surroundings and watchful for personnel who may be conducting surveillance in preparation to commit a crime. Everyone should drive with their doors locked and windows in the closed position and should conduct a cursory observation for suspicious persons before unlocking the doors and exiting the vehicle. Get house keys out and ready before exiting the vehicle.
