2009 Speeches
Final Reading Program at Woodcock Primary School
Remarks by Mrs. Stephanie Siegel
January 14, 2009
Thank you for the very warm welcome. It’s wonderful to see you all assembled together to celebrate a new year and to get the reading program off to a good start in 2009.
I completely agree with the Ambassador when he says, we have become part of the Woodcock family. Working with the students and staff at Woodcock Primary has been very rewarding and something we will always cherish.
I have been very proud to watch the reading program grow over the past 14 months, and I’d like to thank the Ministry of Education, the Woodcock staff and the Embassy volunteers for their commitment to this important program.
But most importantly, I would like to take a moment to thank the students. Watching you run to greet your embassy readers each week and the excitement you showed while we read together is exactly what this program is all about.
I hope you always keep that enthusiasm for reading and learning. I will always have fond memories of my time with you from reading together, to our Christmas party, to celebrating your win at the Junior Junkanoo parade – thank you for letting us be part of your family.
The Ambassador and I expect to hear wonderful things about all of you in the future.
Keep on reading!
Thank you.
