U.S. Embassy Flag Flown at Half-staff in Mourning the Victims at Virginia Tech

April 19, 2007

The flag at the U.S. Embassy in Nassau today is flying at half-staff as the Embassy joins U.S. Federal Government agencies worldwide in mourning the victims of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), killed in the shooting incident on April 16.  The shootings claimed the lives of thirty-two faculty members and college students at the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia.

U.S. Chargé d’ Affaires, Dr. D. Brent Hardt said that the incident has saddened the entire Embassy family and the thoughts and prayers of the Embassy staff go to the families of the victims. The Embassy’s flag will remain at half-mast until sunset on Sunday, April 22.
