Law enforcement training exercise
Local Law Enforcement Officers complete Advanced Maritime Boarding Officer Course

February 19, 2008

The Advanced Maritime Law Enforcement Boarding Officer Training Course was held at the Royal Bahamas Defense Force (RBDF) base in Coral Harbour from January 28 through February 8, 2008.  The intensive two-week course included twenty-one participants from the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF), Bahamas Customs and Bahamas Immigration.

The Maritime Law Enforcement Boarding Officer Course provided participants with extensive instruction supplemented by practical exercises in subject control techniques, defensive tactics, arrest procedures, use of deadly force, decision-making, and boarding procedures. The course was designed to provide Bahamian boarding team members with classroom instruction and practical exercises to conduct normal to high-risk boarding.  The U.S. instructors tailored the course to meet the specific needs of The Bahamas and to supplement previous training.
