Embassy Nassau Honors Victims of 9/11 with a Tree Planting Ceremony

Embassy Nassau commemorated the 5th Anniversary of the attacks of September 11 with a solemn Tree Planting Ceremony held on the grounds of U.S. Ambassador John D. Rood's residence.  Among those in attendance Bahamian government officials including His Excellency the Honorable Arthur D. Hanna, Governor General of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, The Right Honorable Perry Gladstone Christie, Prime Minister of The Bahamas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Public Service, the Honorable Fred Mitchell, members of the Diplomatic Corps and Embassy staff.  In his brief remarks Ambassador Rood said he selected a Poinciana Tree to honor the victims of the attack because the tree symbolizes strength, endurance, hope and beauty.  During the ceremony a plaque was unveiled that reads: “In memory of the victims of September 11, 2001”.
