U.S. Embassy Expresses Sympathy on the loss of Atlantis CEO Howard "Butch" Kerzner

October 12, 2006

The United States Embassy is saddened by the sudden and tragic death of Howard Butch Kerzner, Chief Executive Officer of Kerzner International.  From the opening of the Atlantis resort in 1998, Butch Kerzner played an integral role in its growth and expansion as President.  After succeeding his father, Sol Kerzner as CEO in 2004, Butch Kerzner's dedication to the resort’s continued development helped set The Bahamas apart as a world class tourist destination.

Butch Kerzner’s valuable and significant contributions to The Bahamas reflected his belief that being an investor also meant demonstrating in a tangible way the importance of giving back to the community.  He was committed to youth development, employment, and economic opportunities for Bahamians.

U.S. Ambassador to The Bahamas, John D. Rood and the entire Embassy family extend deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Mr. Kerzner's family and the staff of the Atlantis Resort over this tragic loss.
