The Embassy partners with the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Bahamas Development Bank on Business Education Development Seminar

The United States Embassy, in conjunction with the Development Bank of The Bahamas and the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, sponsored The Third Annual Business Education Development Seminar at the British Colonial Hilton on May 14. The conference provided information to entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs about starting and running a business. A number of prominent Bahamian speakers presented information on the unique challenges of small business development in The Bahamas. As a result of the Embassy’s State Partnership Program with Rhode Island, Mr. Keith Stokes, Executive Director, Newport Chamber of Commerce, spoke at the conference on the topic of, "Using Culture and Heritage to Create Business Opportunities". Mr. Stokes highlighted to conference attendees some of the initiatives Rhode Island has undertaken to promote its history and culture to visitors. Rhode Island, like The Bahamas, has a vibrant tourism industry and has taken steps to continually develop its tourism product to meet the changing demands of visitors and to enhance the visitor experience.
