Foreign Service Nationals and “Miss Daisy” bid farewell to U.S. Ambassador John Rood
April 4, 2007
As is tradition at the U.S. Embassy, before an ambassador demits office the Foreign Service National Employees Association (FSNEA) holds a farewell luncheon in honor of the departing Ambassador. On Tuesday, April 3, outgoing ambassador John Darrell Rood enjoyed an afternoon with staff members at Graycliff’s Humidor restaurant. The FSN’s used the opportunity to thank the ambassador for his support and friendship during his two-and-a-half year tenure in The Bahamas.
Ambassador Rood also received a special treat at the luncheon as popular Bahamian comedian Terez Davis, better known as “Miss Daisy” made a surprise appearance. In typical fashion, Miss Daisy in her own way thanked the ambassador for promoting the relationship between the U.S. and The Bahamas and she presented him with a copy of her latest DVD play production, “Daisy’s Kapunkle-Up Vacation”. Miss Daisy ended her tribute to Ambassador Rood by singing “Unforgettable”.
John D. Rood served as the eleventh U.S. Ambassador to The Bahamas. He demitted office on Tuesday, April 10.
