TSA officials train baggage screeners in the use of CTX Explosives Detection System equipment
October 2, 2006
The United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) conducted baggage screening training at Lynden Pindling International Airport, Nassau. A total of 40 baggage screeners were trained in the use of CTX Explosives Detection System equipment for screening of explosives in checked baggage. The CTX is one of the most advanced baggage screening technology and is the same equipment used by the TSA to screen baggage in the United States. Use of this technology will allow for baggage to screened at TSA standard and allow for travelers from The Bahamas to make quicker connections to onward flights in the United States. This was the first time that TSA has conducted CTX training outside of the United States. Ambassador Rood along with Transportation Minister Hanna-Martin visited with students attending the classes at the Nassau International Airport. The Ambassador noted that this represents another example of close Bahamian-American cooperation in the field of transportation security.
