Important Travel Update
Reminder For Bahamians and Turks & Caicos Islanders Wishing to Travel to the U.S
Most Bahamian and Turks & Caicos citizens can travel to the United States for tourist/business purposes without a U.S. visa. Please review the requirements for Bahamians (pdf 63kb) or TCI Islanders (pdf 65kb) to verify if you are eligible and for instructions.
Emergency Travel Without a Visa:
If you must travel to the U.S. for a life-or-death emergency and you require a visa, you may contact a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer at the US Pre-clearance Facilities at the Nassau and Freeport international airports to seek admittance into the United States on humanitarian grounds. You will need to document the nature of the life-or death emergency.
For Visa Applicants with Previously Scheduled Appointments:
The U.S. Embassy sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused by this temporary suspension of visa operations. If your appointment must be cancelled, the Visa Information Service (VIS) will attempt to contact you in advance to notify you of the cancellation. If your appointment has been cancelled and VIS was not able to notify you, we strongly recommend you send an e-mail to email@example.com with your name, date of birth, original appointment date/time, your current email address and telephone number.
The consular section will contact you via e-mail with a new appointment date and time. If you are unable to appear during this appointment date and time, you will need to contact the Visa Information Service to request a new appointment date. Please be aware there is a cost for their service and you will need to have a major credit card or visa scratch card available.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
