Expedited Visa Appointments in Emergencies

Applicants may request an expedited appointment under certain circumstances, such as:

An immediate relative's death, grave illness or life threatening accident taking place in the United States:

Applicants must include the name of the individual in the U.S., the applicant’s relationship to the individual in the U.S., a brief explanation of the emergent situation, and contact information if the emergency involves an attending physician or funeral home, and bring the same supporting documentation to the visa interview.

Urgent medical treatment for the applicant or their minor child.

An applicant for a student or exchange visitor (F/M/J) visa whose I-20 or DS-2019 has a start date that is earlier than the first available visa appointment.

An unexpected need to travel to the United States for urgent business purposes that is occurring before the first available visa appointment.

Requesting an expedited or emergency appointment

To request an expedited/emergency appointment, applicants must first schedule a regular appointment, either through the new web-based appointment system at http://bahamas.usvisa-info.com, or login here or contact the call center at 1-888-762-3775.

If the regular appointment date is not early enough to accommodate the applicant’s emergency travel plans, the applicant must contact the call center at 1-888-762-3775 to request an emergency appointment.

In all cases, the applicant will be expected to bring to the interview documentation that substantiates the emergency, in addition to those forms and supporting documents normally required. If the applicant fails to provide the supporting documents, he/she will not be interviewed and will be required to reschedule for the next available appointment.
