Caribbean Affairs Office Director Visits The Bahamas

The recently appointed Director of the Office of Caribbean Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, Velia De Pirro, visited Nassau from August 27-29.   During her visit Ms. De Pirro called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Brent Symonette, Leader of the Opposition Perry Christie, and Minister of State for Aviation and Tourism Branville McCartney.  She also met several other Cabinet Ministers, including Minister of National Security Tommy Turnquest, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Labor Dion Foulkes, and Minister of State for Immigration Elma Campbell, at events hosted by the Chargé d’Affaires.  Ms. Depirro discussed security, political, economic and human rights issues with her Bahamian interlocutors.
