Charge Hardt and Chinese Ambassador Li
U.S. and Chinese Embassies Build Ties

June 14, 2007

On June 14, after a gracious invitation from Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas Li Yuanming, diplomats from the United States and Chinese Embassies met for a evening of fun and friendship at Ambassador Li's home. In the great tradition of the ping pong diplomacy that helped open relations between the U.S. and China in the 1970s, staff members first enjoyed a hard-fought ping pong match ultimately won by the Chinese. The diplomats then enjoyed informal conversation over an excellent dinner of authentic Chinese cuisine before settling into after-dinner entertainment. Charge d'Affaires Brent Hardt said, "we thank Ambassador Li for his hospitality and look forward to working together to benefit of The Bahamas and our nations. Ambassador Li's kind gesture and these growing friendships are an invaluable foundation for international cooperation between China and the United States. I look forward to building on this event and continuing to work cooperatively with the Chinese Embassy in the future."
