2009 Business Development Seminar

On March 31, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Timothy Zúñiga-Brown spoke at the opening of the Sixth Annual Business Development Education Seminar. Mr. Zúñiga-Brown noted the importance of border security as a predicate to good business and gave particular reference to ongoing discussions on a General Aviation pre-clearance agreement between the USG and the GCOB that would keep U.S. borders safer and generate much needed revenue in The Bahamas. The Chargé also introduced keynote speaker Ronald Langston, who was the Director of the U.S. Minority Business Development Agency from 2001 to 2009 The one day event co-sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and the Bahamas Development Bank was designed to stimulate interest in entrepreneurship and to encourage social networking. Some 155 persons including a large number of young entrepreneurs attended the event.
