The U.S. Embassy celebrates 4th of July at Liberty Overlook

On July 4, Americans around the world observed the 233rd Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. Here in Nassau the celebration was held at Liberty Overlook on Thursday, July 2.
U.S. Chargè d’Affaires a.i, Timothy Zúñiga-Brown and Governor General of The Bahamas His Excellency Arthur D. Hanna, gave remarks. This year’s celebration was dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln, who served as the 16th President of the United States of America from 1861 – 1865.
The ceremony also included a special appearance by character actors representing President and Mrs. Mary Todd Lincoln, re-enactors Larry and Mary Elliott.
Abraham Lincoln re-enactor Larry Elliott recited the Gettysburg Address during the official program. Entertainment for the evening was provided by the Royal Bahamas Defense Force Band.
